I've been reading about and investigating Monsanto Corporation and their multi-kajillion dollar monopoly on corn, wheat, soybeans, and now, even alfalfa! Yes, the progressive Obama administration has allowed the lobbyist to push through legislation for genetically modified seeds for alfalfa! Who would ever believe that alfalfa, which is supposed to be such a healthy crop, would be taken over by bio-engineers? Who would believe that a liberal/progressive administration, that is all consumed with the amount of salt, fat, and calories that Americans are eating, would allow the destruction of one of the healthiest crops in America? I would - because all this "healthy eating" promotion BS by the government is a crock. CONTROL is the name of the game! And I hope that we will see the issue addressed in the film.
I want people to know how inherently dangerous it is for so few corporations to control the majority of our food supply - a BASIC human need for survival. Imagine, people will be enslaved to the few who control the food supply. Do people know that the US government is considering legislation that prevents families from growing food in their back yards? Do people realize that many roadside stands and small farms will be shut down because the government can't "track" the food from these places? The Amish have been criminalized for selling unpasteurized milk. Do people know that corporations like Monsanto are putting the organic farmer out of business? Do people know that there are many lawsuits from family farms against the US government (USDA) and Monsanto because their crops have been infiltrated by genetically modified seeds? I could write a book about this issue, and I don't know even a morsel of the information out there to be known.
I'm happy to see this documentary being shown in class. It is one of the single most important issues we face; yet most people are oblivious to the dangers in our food. I can't wait to see the rest of the film, so I can rant some more.
